VOL IX BEAUFORT, N. C. THURSDAY ' .APRIL' 15 1920 NUMBER 15' DENTAL. til Plans Made At Grcens boro Meeting For A Vigorous Campaign The meeting of the Republi can State Executive committee heldOlast week in Greensboro was said to have been the larg- 1 est attended and most " enthusias tic one held -m'; this State m raanv vears. Besides the mem- . bers jDf.the-committeea.num: ber oL the candidates on the State ticket were present and other prominent Republicans. , Steps were taken to supply can didatesfor Superior Court judges a member of the Corporation Commission and a Commissioner of Labor and Printing. S The coming campaign was discussed and policies outlined to carry it on in vigorous fashion, -The.first 6tep to be taken . is to urge Republicans . to pay their noli taxes between now and the first of. May so they will be eligi ble to vote. - Considerable work along this line has already , been done. " " ... -: A matter of special importance is, that of raising funds for cam paign expenses. . Some money has already been' raised for this purpose but much more is need ed. A general campaign through out the State will be carried on to raise f uuds by popular sub scription. The idea is to get at least one dollar from every Re- :ree Treatment Given To Many School Children In Carteret County Dr. S. L. Bobbitt representing the State Board-of j Health: who spent several weeks m'this coun ty doing free dental work for school children sends the News a report of his work. This re port shows that.411 children re ceived this free treatment." Of course nothing like,.alLtheJ.chil: dren could be reached. The Board of Health does not have enough, monev to do dental work for all the children in the State. Its plan is to reach as many as possible and by the. example set tu cret all the Deoole ' interested in the matter of caring for their tetth. So the free work is exoe ed to have an educational value much larger than the direct bene fit to those who were treated ai though that in itself is large. During the war the physical examination of tne young men of the country showed that there were- thousands who had ; very poor teeth and this condition was due to the fact that - their teeth had been neglected, Br. Bobbitt s rerjort follows herewith: Total number children exam ined for dental treatment 443 " Total number children treated 411 GOB WHO MADE GOOD GOES TO ANNAPOLIS v f''"'l"1ii 'iiiii'iir' n"'inTi fill ( . 1 - nSHERMEN ON STRIKE; Crews Of Fat backers Say They Will Not Work .
